Synopsis
Part1) In August 2009, a great number of people have gone missing in a forest fire in northern S Prefecture. Yuna, a woman who has lost her family in the fire, goes searching for the truth behind the incident, and notices a dead man wandering about the forest.
Part2) In August 2024, Items that belonged to the missing woman Yuna are found in the forest of northern S Prefecture. The truth behind the incident is investigated once more, and the deceased is mourned by bereaved family and villagers.

* There is a folktale about Naguar Forest, a forest in central South America where I as a living exist alongside another I as a dead. Near this forest there were a series arson attacks between two neighboring tribes. I have chosen a structure that melds these two stories together, into a story about the people of two villages in Japan that continue to despise each other even in death.

* This is a work produced at the same time with the same theme as the play "Naguar Foresti".

＊This work was shot on location during 8 days stay. The script was written and the film was shot based on research into the theme of “borders” done at Rakudo no Mori Art Project, an outdoor art space in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Commentary

＊In this work, the theme was the problem of the chain of hatred, referring to the case of the narrative about "life and death".

あらすじ

Part1）2009年8月、S県北部で発生した森林火災によって多数の行方不明者が出た。家族を失った女性ユナは、事件の真相を調査するうちに、森を漂浪する死者の存在に気づく。
Part2）2024年8月、S県北部の森で、行方不明となっていた女性ユナの遺品が発見された。事件の真偽は再調査され、故人は遺族と村落の人々によって弔われた。

＊南米中部にあるとされる死者と生者の私が混在する森、ナグアルの森に伝わる民話と、その近隣で起きたとされる民族間の連続放火抗争事件を、死者となっても憎みあう日本における二つの村落の人々をめぐる話にデフォルメして、同時に重ねて描く構成を採用している。

＊静岡県の野外型アートスペース樂土舎での滞在による、境界をテーマとしたリサーチを元に、脚本と撮影を組み立てていく滞在型の制作形態をとった作品である。

解説

＊本作は”生と死”に関する説話の事例を参照して、憎悪の連鎖の問題をテーマとした。
