Synopsis

Part1) In August 2023, Mito visits a mountain village blocked off by a mysterious infectious disease. She encounters people who become more violent as they search for the girl who is the source of the infection, and regains her lost memories.

Part2) In August 2023, an  archaeological site called Kirin was discovered in a mountain village in the northern part of S Prefecture. A survey team was dispatched the same day, but by the following morning, seven members of the team had died in an accident, and the survivor Mito had become obsessed with hallucinations of the ghost of a girl in the hospital where she was being treated.

* Based on the case of the C virus infection that happened in a mountain village in the northern part of S Prefecture, it has a structure in which two twisted stories are made, and portrayed simultaneously.

​

*In the story, the illusion of a non-existent girl "Yuzu" twists the reality of the characters and transforms them into a violent group. 

​

* * On the screen, there is a function that allows the audience to display the time code and position coordinates until the death (or rebirth) of the protagonist Mito in the sequence from the perspective of the other characters, and to watch ahead in the story.

*This work was shot on location. The script was written and the  film was shot based on research into the theme of “borders” done at Rakudosha, an outdoor art space in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Commentary

*Previous work"Into the Blue" focuses on the issue of modern mental illness, with reference to examples of illnesses related to "consciousness and reality."

 

*Also, in "Dark Red", the theme was the problem of the chain of hatred, referring to the case of the narrative about "life and death".

*"Dark Blue Forest" is based on the case of corona infection and focuses on the problems of prejudice and excessive self-consciousness.

あらすじ

Part1）2023年8月、謎の感染症で封鎖された山村を訪れたミトは、感染源の少女をめぐり次第に狂暴化する人々に遭遇し、失くした記憶を取り戻していく。

Part2）2023年8月、S県北部の山村にて麒麟と呼ばれる遺跡が発見された。同日調査隊が派遣されたが、翌朝までに7名が事故死、一命を取りとめたミトも、療養先で少女の亡霊の幻覚に憑りつかれる。

＊S県北部の山村で起きたCウイルス感染事例を元に、２つのデフォルメ化した物語をつくり、同時に重ねて描く構成を採用している。

​

＊物語では、存在しない少女”ユズ”の幻想が、登場人物の現実を曲げて狂暴化した集団に変えていく様子が描かれている。

​

＊映像中、関係者視点のシーケンスに主人公ミトの死（または再生）までのタイムコードと位置座標を提示して、物語を先読みできる機能を設置している。

​

＊静岡県の野外型アートスペース樂土舎での滞在による、境界をテーマとしたリサーチを元に、脚本と撮影を組み立てていく滞在型の制作形態をとった作品である。​

解説

＊各シーンの冒頭にあるタイムコード、前中後をつなげると、３つの結末、（村人によるユズ殺害の回避、ミトの感染死、村人による殺戮のループ）、が選べるように構成されている。

上記「３つの結末を持ち合わせた現代社会」が本アートプロジェクトのリサーチテーマとなっている。

＊前作 "Into the Blue"は、”意識と現実”に関する疾患の事例を参照して、現代の精神疾患の問題をテーマとした。

また"Dark Red"では、”生と死”に関する説話の事例を参照して、憎悪の連鎖の問題をテーマとした。

本作"Dark Blue Forest"はコロナ感染の事例を元に、偏見と過剰な自意識の問題をテーマとしている。
